Answers
Audit and VAT questions
The six we are asked most often before an engagement starts.
01Does my company need a statutory audit?
Most free zone licences require audited financial statements at renewal, and a mainland LLC needs them where the memorandum, a bank or a shareholder asks for them. The answer turns on your licence type and zone, so it is worth confirming rather than assuming.
02What does an audit cost?
Audit is quoted with a proposal rather than published as a flat rate, because the work is driven by transaction volume, the number of bank accounts and how complete the books are when we receive them. Bookkeeping is published by volume on our cost calculator.
03Is the AED 500 VAT filing price the whole cost?
It covers the return filing itself. VAT registration, de-registration, refund claims, and any assessment or appeal work are separate and quoted before anything starts.
04How long does an audit take?
For a company whose books are current, a straightforward set of accounts is usually a matter of weeks from receiving the records. Where there is a backlog to rebuild first, that work is quoted separately and happens before the audit can begin.
05Are you approved in my free zone?
We are on the approved auditor lists for SAIF Zone, JAFZA, Dubai Silicon Oasis, RAKEZ, DMCC, DAFZA, DIFC, Hamriyah and Dubai World Central, and we audit mainland companies across the UAE. If your zone is not listed, ask and we will confirm.
06Can you handle the audit and the VAT filing together?
Yes, and that is the point of this page. The same team that closes your books files the return, so the figures in the return and the figures in the audited statements are the same figures.
