The basics
What is Corporate Tax Registration?
Corporate tax registration is the process that the company goes through to register with the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) for corporate profits taxes. From June 2023, all companies that are making revenues in the UAE and have the appropriate tax income threshold are supposed to have their registration processed. The corporate tax rate in the UAE is set at 9%, an exemption plan that calls for companies earning below a certain income threshold, which often is a small and medium-sized enterprise.

Who is Required to Register for Corporate Tax?
Under UAE law, businesses must register for corporate tax if they meet the following criteria:
Resident Companies
All entities that are established in the UAE or operate businesses in the UAE are obliged to register for corporate tax only if their income exceeds the tax amount applicable.
Foreign Companies
Foreign entities that have a stable establishment in the UAE or get income from the UAE also, need to satisfy corporate tax registration requirements from which that country enforces.
Free Zone Entities
Companies that function in free zones in the UAE and earn money on the UAE mainland may require to be registered according to their tax agreements and operations.

12 VAT services in Dubai and the UAE
They are one lifecycle. You register before you file, you cannot close a registration you never opened, and a penalty reconsideration only exists because something was assessed first. Here is the order, and where this page sits in it.
VAT, in order
You register, you keep the records, you file, and one day you close it.
Corporate tax
A separate registration and a separate return, on its own annual cycle.
When something goes wrong
These exist because of something that already happened: money owed back, a figure disputed, a penalty imposed.
At any point
Neither of these waits for a deadline.
The lines show the order, which does not change. Thresholds, rates, filing periods and penalty amounts are set by the Federal Tax Authority and do change, so none of them is drawn here. A tax agent confirms where your business actually stands.

What FTA approval permits us to do
Plenty of firms in Dubai help with VAT. Far fewer are approved by the Federal Tax Authority to represent a business before it. That approval is what the mark on the right stands for, and this is what it lets us do for you.
Act for you in front of the FTA
An approved agent can correspond with the Federal Tax Authority on your behalf rather than leaving you to answer alone.
File and defend the position taken
The same firm that prepares the return is the one that explains it if the Authority asks a question about it.
Held to the Authority's own standard
Approval is granted against the FTA's requirements for qualification, conduct and record keeping, and it is reviewed.

Answers
Questions asked about Corporate Tax Registration
The 6 asked most often, answered by a tax agent.
01Do I need to register for corporate tax in the UAE?
Yes, every business operating in the UAE is required to register for corporate tax, even if its taxable income falls below the threshold that attracts tax. Corporate tax is charged at 0 per cent on taxable income up to AED 375,000 and 9 per cent above that. Whether the 0 per cent rate applies to your business depends on its income level and structure.
02How much does corporate tax registration cost?
There is no fixed published fee for corporate tax registration, since the work depends on the entity's legal structure, licence type and the documentation available. Pricing is quoted after a proposal following an initial assessment of eligibility and requirements. Bookkeeping support, if needed alongside registration, starts at AED 599 per month for up to 50 transactions.
03What is the deadline to register for corporate tax in the UAE?
The Federal Tax Authority sets registration deadlines based on when a licence was issued, and these vary by entity. Missing the applicable deadline attracts a fine of AED 10,000 for failure to register. Once registered, the corporate tax return itself is due within nine months of the end of the financial year.
04What is the penalty for late corporate tax registration or filing?
Failing to register for corporate tax by the required deadline carries a fine of AED 10,000. Late filing of the corporate tax return can attract additional fines ranging from AED 1,000 to AED 50,000, depending on the nature of the violation. Whether a penalty applies, and its size, depends on the specific delay and circumstances involved.
05Which documents do I need for corporate tax registration?
Corporate tax registration generally requires the trade licence, memorandum of association, Emirates ID and passport copies of owners or partners, and details of the business activity and financial records. The exact list depends on the entity's legal structure and whether it is based on the mainland or in a free zone, which is assessed before documents are prepared.
06What is the process for corporate tax registration in the UAE?
The process involves assessing eligibility, preparing the required documents, submitting the application to the Federal Tax Authority, and then obtaining the corporate tax registration number once approved. The overall timeline depends on how quickly the documentation is gathered and the complexity of the entity, so it varies between businesses.
